Ladies and gents, this was my 52kg body last December 2012. May we all take a moment of silence and ponder on it.. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Yes, a fatty on the picture. Now can you please give me a round of applause for my confidence to wear a swimsuit with a body like that? Yes? Thanks.

Now this is my 45kg body half a year later. It's not much, but I'm just SO happy to see visible results! It's such a milestone for me that I have to blog it. Haha.

I started working out 3weeks before my graduation. My graduation dress was a white, fitting tube so I had to be slim for it!  It was a bit of a crash diet for me because I tried to avoid food as much as I can and I was working out everyday, because duh I only got 3weeks to fit on that dress. I weighed 48.5kg at day 0 and by the day that I finally have to wear the dress, I was weighing 47kg.

BUT, cos there's always a but, a week after grad I started to binge! I figured that crash diet isn't gonna work for me so I changed my lifestyle. I am proud to say that I now live a healthy lifestyle. I eat small meals six times a day. I eat anything except junk foods, chocolate and fast foods. I also avoid soft drinks, powdered juice, bottled juice and all other processed drinks. I'm still doing cardio workouts at least two times a week for one hour, and 15-minute workout for my future abs. LOL.

I know, sticking to the diet is HARD. Now that I'm reviewing for the board exam my schedule became pretty hectic and studying is sucking the marrow out of me. I think working out is just like studying after all. They both need discipline, commitment and stick-to-it attitude. And they are both very rewarding in the end.

I started seeing diet as a marathon, not a sprint. Because it's not how fast I lose weight (and gain it back again), but how long could I stick to it.

I still haven't stopped my marathon for a healthy body -- and I pray that I don't have to stop it at all. It feels good to look and feel healthy inside out. It's not about being skinny but being fit. I always say this to my friends: as we get old our metabolism slows down that's why most of our parents can't get away with their flabs. They can't exercise that much too because of aging. Therefore we have our whole adulthood to spend with our fat body, so how about we enjoy our 20's being fit? ;)

Mang Dolphy is a part of every Filipino. My grans enjoyed watching his black and white movies back in the 60's, my parents said that John en Marsha is one of the funniest sitcoms ever created and our generation enjoyed watching Home Along da Riles every Thursday. I would always ask my mom to let me stay up late so that I can watch Mang Kevin and his family survive another day along the riles. Mang Dolphy had this warmth in him that he channeled to his characters. He was real and so close to the viewers for a very long time and I think that's why his passing felt as if we lost our own relative.

He was laid to rest this afternoon at the Heritage Park. Honestly, I have never seen such a beautiful burial. And it is ever so fitting for a beautiful life Mang Dolphy had shared with us. The kind words, the salute, the applause. He deserved all of these. All these years that he devoted his life making people happy did not go in vain. Because in the end, he mattered.

Thank you, Mang Kevin. You will always be remembered. Congratulations on a life well lived.

"I don't know, I think that if I could just accept the fact that my life is supposed to be difficult. You know, that's what to be expected, then I might not get so pissed-off about it and I'll just be glad when something nice happens."

Coz life is hard. Really really hard.

Is it just me or romantic comedies are better twenty years ago? Way better than all the Katherine Heigl and Jennifer Aniston movies combined.

The Meg Ryan-Nora Ephron Trilogy
I just noticed that the most loved and unforgettable movies written by Nora Ephron were led by Meg Ryan: When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail. Any objections? None? Good. Coz she's perfect for all these movies.

I love Definitely, Maybe. It's one of my go-to movie when I'm feeling low. But did you know that the inspiration of the movie is the classic When Harry Met Sally? Yes people  don't argue with me; it's a classic. If not now, eventually. It should be. Written back in the day when Friendzone is nonexistent, When Harry Met Sally is a slow-building, candid and beautiful love story between two friends. I did not find myself rushing the two of them to "just get together and kiss. Fin" because even their friendly interactions are enjoyable. It strengthened my belief that it's always friendship that build the strongest relationship. Not Facebook flirting.

The Julia Roberts Spell
One month ago, I had only seen two of Julia Roberts' movies: Notting Hill and Eat, Pray, Love. I was so young when I watched Notting Hill so I can't remember most of it and I did not like Eat, Pray, Love. So in short, I still had not understand why Julia Roberts became America's Sweetheart and why every woman adores her (Even Emma Watson who is the life peg of most teenagers) She's like the origin of all adoration in the late 20th century.

Then I watched Pretty Woman. And now I get it.

I know she's famous for her smile, but it's her eyes! It casts a spell that won't let you take your gaze off her. She conveys emotions that can't be expressed in words through her eyes... And then you'll find yourself falling in love with her whole being. Seriously, that girl's a voodoo! Haha.

I hope Hollywood stop making crappy movies just for profit and start making quality love stories. We're not always in the mood for heavy, Oscar-ish French films, or stressful Mafia action, but I think everybody can watch a good love story any time of the day. With quality script, good acting and right execution, it will never fail to lift the viewers' moods.
